Queensland’s selectors have picked 12 men and 12 women to represent QLD against NSW in January. Bowls Queensland has today announced the 24 players chosen to represent QLD in the fiercely contended annual Queensland vs New South Wales Test Series clash at Club Kawana (Jan 16 – 17) next year.

The QLD state teams consisting of 12 men and 12 women will take on the task of renewing old rivalries as the men’s side look to defend their title after this year’s win, while the women’s side look for revenge after a tough 3-0 series loss.

Skipping the women’s rinks this year are  Julie Keegan (Broadbeach), Bolivia Millerick (Broadbeach) and Helensvale’s Lynsey Clarke, who will be out to get even and lead Queensland to victory.

They will be supported by a large contingent of Gold Coast district players including Samantha Wilson (Musgrave Hill),  Kirsty Thatcher (Tweed Heads), Cassandra Millerick (Broadbeach), Georgia White (Helensvale), Dee-Anne Robertson (Broadbeach), Emma Brown (Broadbeach) as well as Mareeba’s Sue Brady (TFNQ) and the Sunshine coast’s Louise Witton (Coolum Beach).

The selectors hope the new additions of Broadbeach’s Dee-Anne Robertson, Chloe Stewart as well as Georgia White (Paradise Point) and QLD’s 2016 State Champion of Champions Cassandra Millerick will give Queensland the edge against the south of the border side.

The Men’s team will be under the watchful eye of veteran Sean Baker (Victoria Point) who has taken over the reigns from Mark Casey after his retirement from state representation, he will be supported by both Kawana’s Kurt Brown and Helensvale’s Nathan Rice who skipped QLD to victory this year.

The three skips will also be leading a large Gold Coast district based side with Samuel White (Paradise Point), Braidan Leese (Club Helensvale),  Sean Ingham (Broadbeach), Brett Wilkie (Club Helensvale) and first time Queensland representative Andrew Howie (Club Helensvale).

Joining them will be Steven McNamee (Belmont), Jay Cross (Swifts) and it will be the first appearance in the Queensland open side for Belmont’s Jacob Nelson and team-mate Jayden Christie(Club Helensvale) progressing from the QLD U18 ranks.

Bowls Queensland would like to thank Club Kawana for supporting and hosting the 2017 QLD vs NSW Test Series.
