Beautiful weather blessed Chermside Bowls Club for the final day of this year’s Multi Disability State Championships. In the QBBA Vision Impaired pairs competition, the gold medal playoff came down to Aspley’s Wayne McDonald and Jake Fehlberg (Burleigh Heads) against the pairing of Bryan Forster (Enoggera) and Lynne Seymour (Thuringowa City).

The well-oiled machine of McDonald and Fehlberg were able to come up trumps winning the final 19-11 and hand Froster and Seymour the silver.

In the bronze medal playoff, Don Dias (Enoggera) and Bill O’Rourke (Tin Can Bay) were able to come away with a bronze medal for their efforts after they defeated Marian Morrison (Aspley) & Joy Forster (Chermside).

In the Sporting Wheelies Women’s Singles competition Edge Hill’s Kaytlyn Smith pulled off a 21-16 win to secure the title over second placed Louise Hoskins (Sth. Johnstone) while Deb McGarry (Burrum Heads) was able to beat Serena Bonnell (Burleigh Heads) to take bronze.

It was a great first outing for Tweed Heads’ Damian Delgado at this year’s Multi-Dis, Delgado was able to defeat Anthony Bonnell (Burleigh Heads) in an incredibly close final match which saw the comp debutant able to just get over the line and win his first title 21-20.

The bronze medal went to North Ipswich’s Don Currie who was able to defeat Andrew Reed and claim third place honours in the Men’s Sporting Wheelies Singles.

Chalking up his second gold medal of the event Glasshouse’s Phillip Siggers teamed up with Darren Davis (Diggers Memorial) to beat Durak Inala’s Ian Smith and Brian Hampson (Jindalee) 15-14 in the Life Stream Open Pairs, while John Stuart (Holland Park) and Krystie Ebert (McKenzie Park) collected bronze.
